MAKING SPACE UNDER PRESSURE

The seventh edition of Where Is Product Design Education Headed?, a talk series initiated by Madeleine K. Wieser within the Product Design programme at OsloMet, took place in Berlin as part of the Currents Berlin Agenda.

Taking the current budget cuts and structural changes affecting German design universities as its starting point, the roundtable addressed the growing economic and political pressures on design education. The discussion considered how universities can sustain product design programmes that allow for experimentation and critical reflection, while remaining closely connected to professional practice and responsive to future challenges.
