We are happy to announce that LIGRE siji received the German Design Award Gold 2025 in the category Excellent Product Design – Kitchen.

We are honored to announce that one of our first J*GAST Kitchen Prototypes is now exhibited at the Pinakothek der Moderne. This prestigious venue is home to the Neue Sammlung, one of the world’s leading design museums, celebrated for its comprehensive collection of 20th and 21st-century design artifacts. The exhibition ‘Kitchen Culture’ not only features our J*GAST prototype but also showcases pivotal kitchen solutions that have shaped modern living spaces. Noteworthy among these is the iconic Frankfurter Kitchen, which revolutionized home efficiency in the early 20th century, and the Functionalist architecture of the Unité d’habitation’s kitchen by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and André Wogenscky. Arne Jacobsen’s contributions are also highlighted, featuring his kitchen design for a detached house at the 1957 International Building Exhibition in Berlin, which emphasized central spatial solutions in residential architecture. By placing J*GAST alongside such significant historical innovations like Stefan Wewerka’s Kitchen Tree and Herbert H. Schultes’s workbench model, which reimagine kitchen spaces with modern irony and functionality, the exhibition highlights the ongoing evolution and cultural impact of kitchen design throughout the last century.

Jury Statement: “Ana Relvão and Gerhardt Kellermann have expanded their collection with two extraordinary pieces of upholstered furniture: the yay chair, a compact upholstered chair with an original backrest, and the ohh seating family, based on a compact, upholstered seat shell. The radical design of the yay chair, a real statement piece, draws all eyes through its presence alone. By contrast, the ohh family is discreet and reserved, with a compact, upholstered seat shell. This versatile seating family can be used in a range of different settings and also looks harmonious when combined.”

“The session on 03.12. entitled “simple (not simplistic!)” will invite participants to reexamine their approach and explore the underlying questions that define meaningful design. Amid this year’s Munich Creative Business Week with the theme “How to co-create with nature,” CRAFT FORWARD II explores the possibilities between archaic materials and forward-looking technologies in its second edition. The joint exhibition by J*GAST, karuun®, TYP®—initiated by Meiré and Meiré—explores new paths in design. The focus is on the originality of natural raw materials and textures, which are reinterpreted in entirely new ways through innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence.

As part of this, author Andrian Kreye presented his book “The Spirit from the Machine,” forming the starting point for the subsequent panel talk with the protagonists from J*GAST (Office Heinzelmann Ayadi, Relvaokellermann & Holzrausch), karuun®, TYP®, and Mike Meiré.

Celebrating the best in design across the world. The Monocle Design Awards honour the people, products and places that are enhancing lives. J*GAST was awarded with best in the kitchen 2024.

During the Salone de Mobile, the German Design Council facilitated a talk where Stefan Diez and Ana Relvão engaged with Pere Llonch, CEO of Vibia Lighting, and CMO Judith Patiño. The conversation centered on crafting successful collaborations between designers and manufacturers, likened to a “love story” for its depth and effectiveness in achieving innovative outcomes.
