For the first time, the mcbw masterclass event series offers school students and young professionals up to the age of 30 the opportunity to learn from established designers and engage in personal dialogue with them. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., you will learn first-hand in their studio what it means to be a designer today, what qualities you need to bring to the table, and what obstacles you might encounter.

Ana Relvão and Gerhardt Kellermann, owners of the Relvãokellermann studio, are internationally recognized product designers. Since founding their studio in 2014, the duo has collaborated successfully on projects in the fields of industrial design, art direction, and design consulting. They have received numerous awards for their innovative designs, including the iF Design Awards, iF Gold Awards, German Design Awards, and the Red Dot Award. Their clients include high-profile brands such as Holzrausch, Gaggenau, Schönbuch, and Bulthaupt. Both designers stress the importance of constantly questioning and adapting existing ideas in their work process. In their masterclass, they aim to discuss the reality of design practice with you and give you a glimpse behind the scenes of their work.

Designed to compliment gumpo’s office furniture systems, ohh is a family of seating furniture based on a compact, fully upholstered shell. It was designed for adaptability and quiet presence, offering four chair variants and a modular bench system that integrate effortlessly into diverse interiors. A resilient wooden core and flexible backrest ensure lasting comfort. With minimal components and a calm visual identity, ohh blends the precision of cabinet furniture with contemporary softness, balancing comfort, clarity, and sustainable material use.

Ana Relvão is extending her contribution to design education alongside her practice at RELVĀOKELLERMANN. Invited by Stéphane Halmaï-Voisard, she joined Maddalena Casadei and Anthony Guex to teach Industrial Design BA diploma students at ECAL University of Art and Design Lausanne during this spring semester 2026.

The course began in February, with Marco Renna supporting as an assistant. Special thanks go to Margo Clavier for her ongoing support, and to the students.

Gerhardt Kellermann had the honor of serving on the jury of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026.
As one of the world’s largest and most prestigious design competitions, the award receives around 11,000 submissions from almost 70 countries.

Since 1954, the iF label has been regarded as a reliable indicator of design excellence for both consumers and the design community. In response to how quickly design is evolving, iF places strong emphasis on assembling a high profile, international jury that is deliberately balanced to support more insightful discussions, more robust decisions, and reduced risk of unconscious cultural bias.

The jury’s role goes beyond ranking. Each juror documents a detailed assessment for every entry in the digital jury tool, and participants receive in depth feedback via a structured evaluation chart. The 2026 jury brought together 129 renowned designers from 21 countries, within a transparent and fair judging process led by independent experts spanning design and sustainability.

Just as in a home, where the most meaningful exchanges happen at the kitchen, this event encourages guests to gravitate toward the conversation that speaks to them the most. Whether it’s culture, enjoyment, craftsmanship, or even a musical happening, every kitchen offers a different topic, a different rhythm, and a different group of voices where the guests are welcomed in participating.
Each conversation, promoted by guest speakers, will happen in one of our kitchens and take place at the same time, inviting guests to choose the conversation, the dialogue, that resonates with them most.

And as every great party ends up in the kitchen, the gathering reaches its crescendo by the end of the evening with music, and drinks.

Join us for an evening where kitchens are not just places of function but spaces of conversation and connection.

We are happy to announce that LIGRE siji received the German Design Award Gold 2025 in the category Excellent Product Design – Kitchen.

We are honored to announce that one of our first J*GAST Kitchen Prototypes is now exhibited at the Pinakothek der Moderne. This prestigious venue is home to the Neue Sammlung, one of the world’s leading design museums, celebrated for its comprehensive collection of 20th and 21st-century design artifacts. The exhibition ‘Kitchen Culture’ not only features our J*GAST prototype but also showcases pivotal kitchen solutions that have shaped modern living spaces. Noteworthy among these is the iconic Frankfurter Kitchen, which revolutionized home efficiency in the early 20th century, and the Functionalist architecture of the Unité d’habitation’s kitchen by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and André Wogenscky. Arne Jacobsen’s contributions are also highlighted, featuring his kitchen design for a detached house at the 1957 International Building Exhibition in Berlin, which emphasized central spatial solutions in residential architecture. By placing J*GAST alongside such significant historical innovations like Stefan Wewerka’s Kitchen Tree and Herbert H. Schultes’s workbench model, which reimagine kitchen spaces with modern irony and functionality, the exhibition highlights the ongoing evolution and cultural impact of kitchen design throughout the last century.

Jury Statement: “Ana Relvão and Gerhardt Kellermann have expanded their collection with two extraordinary pieces of upholstered furniture: the yay chair, a compact upholstered chair with an original backrest, and the ohh seating family, based on a compact, upholstered seat shell. The radical design of the yay chair, a real statement piece, draws all eyes through its presence alone. By contrast, the ohh family is discreet and reserved, with a compact, upholstered seat shell. This versatile seating family can be used in a range of different settings and also looks harmonious when combined.”

“The session on 03.12. entitled “simple (not simplistic!)” will invite participants to reexamine their approach and explore the underlying questions that define meaningful design.
