INTRODUCING CLAY INTO FURNITURE DESIGN
Clay, a material normally associated with accessories, decoration or art, has much more to give to the world than cups, mugs, plates and jars. And for the design scene, hand manufacture should be able to add values to the object, the ones that industry is not able to, but keeping it far away from the experimentation and metaphors. At this level art is doing great. And to succeed, design should focus on its main core: usability.
Handmade pottery on the wheel has always one main characteristic: every object is turned around one axis which makes it circular.
